EMILY'S LUSCIOUS LOCKS

THICK LONG HAIR

I have to admit, I feel a BIT ridiculous talking about my hair. It is such a requested topic but I hate to tell you there is nothing special going on!

Just mix in some cheap shampoo and a touch of laziness and boom you have it!

Okay but in all seriousness I do think there are some things I do differently.

I have recorded a short episode on the podcast about it so you can listen while you do your makeup or on a drive!

Check it out here.

My Heatless Hair Review!

I have been interested in trying some heatless curling options for my hair. I ordered the Heatless Hair Curling Ribbon Kit in Black about 6 weeks ago since they keep selling out!

I received this past week and couldn't have been better timing.

It is a great product, my hair didn't hold the curl for very long but I imagine if you added some hairspray it would!

It was certainly fun for a night out so I recommend it!

They are doing a pre-order March 15th!

Silk pillow case and leave in conditioner are definitely my go to!

Best hair tip I’ve received is to not wash my hair every day. Wash every 2-3 days, allowing the natural oils to do their thing. Washing every day overstimulates the scalp, causing the greasy hair look. It takes a while for the scalp to adjust to less washing, but once it does, your hair (and you) are happier for it!

Castor oil hair mask once a week! You can buy castor oil at homesense or winners for cheap!

Pro tip 1:
Dry shampoo on day 1, prevents the oils from coming in. You won’t regret this.

Pro Tip 2:
Get a boar bristle brush. Brush your hair. Scalp to helps before you wash it. Helps reduce ‘stuck on’ build up. If you have straight hair, you can do this every day and it will help your oils get to your ends leaving your hair feeling softer with less root oils.

Pro Tip 3:
Highly recommend a water softener. If you have well water, older house with old pipes. Or if you feel like you have hard water in general (anyone in edmonton). You can get ones for your shower, your hair and skin will thank you.

Pro Tip 5:
Get a silk/satin scrunchie, it will help reduce breakage.

Pro Tip 6:
Blowdrying your roots will give you more longevity to your style and hair. It will give you a little more root lift.

Xoxo
I don’t wanna win. I just want to make peoples hair goals come true 😘

I have fine, dry hair, so have started using silk pillowcases abs have noticed a difference!

My hair hack was to move my part to hide a patch of grey hair!

Also, put dry shampoo in before you go to sleep so it has a chance to work itself in overnight.

I use mulberry silk scrunchies and a mulberry silk beanie. (haha it looks like the Emmy Deveaux toque, which is too small for me) I buy them off Amazon. The beanie is great because its cool in summer, warm in winter and silk protects your hair.

I have a large amount of thin hair, which is annoying as I am constantly trying to find ways to make it look like there is more body. Honestly, I love braiding it half dry and then letting out and spraying later. No heat.

Definitely on the silk pillowcase trend since I have really fine hair that’s prone to breakage. Also agree washing once maybe every 4-5 days!

The number one thing that I’ve done that has made my hair healthier, is less blow drying and use of hot styling tools. I pretty much always let my hair air dry, especially since starting a job working from home. If you don’t need it dry asap, give air drying a try a few days a week. Hope that helps! XOXO

If the ends of your hair are getting tangled easily or feeling dry, use some hair oil! It will help refresh the ends and also nourish it to prevent future tangling. I recommend Elixir Ultime Nourishing Hair Oil by Kerastase or Silk Therapy Original by BioSilk.

Looks awesome!! Going to have to give it a try. Thanks for the share. Love all the hot tips everyone has shared.

I stopped washing my hair everyday, only every 2-3 sometimes even 4 days. It may sound gross but the natural oils from the scalp actually make my hair look and feel better! Mind blown! Plus I use only natural shampoo and conditioner – and in bar form, no waste :)

Jessica March 12, 2021

Sleeping with a silk pillowcase and a humidifier really helps my curly hair.

Robin March 12, 2021

Don’t wash your hair everyday. Maybe every 3-4 days. And don’t blow dry it- air dry. Same as with heated tools. Minimize the use of all those.

Suzie March 12, 2021

Silk pillowcase!!!

Hair tip #1:
Co Washing:
Use a light conditioner or an actual co-wash to “wash” your hair rather than shampoo (which strips natural oils).
Scrub the conditioner into your scalp like you would shampoo and rinse as usual. I typically only use shampoo every 10-14 days.

Hair tip #2
Flax Seed Hair Gel
Boil 1/4 whole flax seeds with 2 1/2 cups of water till it thickens. Strain into a jar, cool and store in fridge.
The beauty of it is, it never builds up on your hair, you can refresh every day.
It is high in fatty acids, so good for your hair and scalp.
Add a couple drops of your fav essential oil if you like

To get my curly hair to last more then one day, I use a sleep bonnet almost every night!

Stacey Ransome March 12, 2021

With curly hair, making sure it has enough moisture helps tame the frizz. I’m a fan of Verb Ghost Oil.
